Merck Group in Manila is seeking an Operations Manager, Asset Accounting, to lead a 30+ person team in the Manila Hub. You will oversee fixed asset transactions, improve close processes, and ensure IFRS compliance across regions.

Ideal candidates bring 5–7 years in fixed asset accounting with 2+ years in management, and strong SAP/Oracle expertise to drive global asset reporting and improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA nice to have but not required.
• 5–7 years in fixed asset accounting or operations, with 2+ years in a managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day asset accounting operations for the Manila hub.
• Ensure Month-End closing processes are completed accurately.
• Collaborate with global teams across Asia, EMEA, NA, LATAM for reporting.
• Lead and mentor the fixed asset team, drive process improvements.
• Coordinate audits and implement corrective actions.

Your Role:

As the Operations Manager of Asset Accounting, you will lead a team of 30+ full-time employees (FTEs) within the Manila Hub.

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the different asset accounting teams, ensuring efficient processing of fixed asset transactions and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all operational processes related to Month-End closing activities are executed accordingly.
• Scope of the process spans across globally - Asia, EMEA, North America, and LATAM.
• This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of fixed asset process & accounting treatments.
• Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and disposal, ensuring compliance with local and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
• Collaborate with Financial Solutions GPO organization to support fixed asset reporting and analysis, providing insights into asset performance and utilization.
• Develop and implement best practices for fixed asset management, enhancing process efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead and mentor the fixed asset operations team, providing training and support to ensure high levels of performance and engagement.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during fixed asset audits, ensuring all documentation and processes are in order.
• Coordinate the implementation of any recommendations or corrective actions resulting from the audit findings.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for fixed asset operations and implement improvements as necessary using lean methodologies such as problem solving.
• Act as a liaison between the fixed asset team and other departments, facilitating communication and collaboration on cross-functional projects.
• Collaborate with senior management to align asset accounting with organization goals and priorities.
• Perform Daily/Weekly Management with Operations Team Lead to keep track of deliverables and KPIs

Who You Are:

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent accounting license is a nice to have but not required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within a shared service or global business services environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in fixed asset management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is essential.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of local and international accounting standards related to fixed assets (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to various stakeholders.
• Global Perspective: Experience working in a global environment with an understanding of different regional practices and regulations.
• Work Environment: Willingness to work at BGC, Taguig, during day shifts (9 AM - 6 PM) or mid shifts. Shifts change due to MEC.
