Merck Group, Manila Hub, is seeking an Operations Manager of Asset Accounting to lead a 30+ strong team. You will oversee fixed asset transactions, month-end closes, and IFRS-compliant reporting across a global scope. Strong leadership and process improvement focus are essential.

The role involves mentoring staff, coordinating with auditors, and driving asset performance insights in a dynamic, multinational environment. Based in Taguig, day shifts with MEC adjustments may apply.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or equivalent accounting license is a nice to have but not required.
• Experience in fixed asset accounting or operations is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee day-to-day operations of asset accounting teams.
• Ensure month-end closing activities are executed.
• Manage fixed asset lifecycle: acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, impairment, disposal.
• Ensure IFRS compliance and external audits coordination.
• Lead and mentor a 30+ FTE asset accounting team.
• Collaborate with Financial Solutions GPO and cross-functional partners.
• Develop best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement.

Your Role

As the Operations Manager of Asset Accounting, you will lead a team of 30+ full-time employees (FTEs) within the Manila Hub.

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the different asset accounting teams, ensuring efficient processing of fixed asset transactions and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all operational processes related to Month-End closing activities are executed accordingly.
• Scope of the process spans across globally - Asia, EMEA, North America, and LATAM.
• This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of fixed asset process & accounting treatments.
• Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, impairment, and disposal, ensuring compliance with local and international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
• Collaborate with Financial Solutions GPO organization to support fixed asset reporting and analysis, providing insights into asset performance and utilization.
• Develop and implement best practices for fixed asset management, enhancing process efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead and mentor the fixed asset operations team, providing training and support to ensure high levels of performance and engagement.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during fixed asset audits, ensuring all documentation and processes are in order.
• Coordinate the implementation of any recommendations or corrective actions resulting from the audit findings.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for fixed asset operations and implement improvements as necessary using lean methodologies such as problem solving.
• Act as a liaison between the fixed asset team and other departments, facilitating communication and collaboration on cross-functional projects.
• Collaborate with senior management to align asset accounting with organization goals and priorities.
• Perform Daily/Weekly Management with Operations Team Lead to keep track of deliverables and KPIs
• Team Leadership: Directly manage a diverse team of 30+ full-time employees, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure high performance.
• Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations, set individual goals, and provide timely feedback to foster professional growth.
• Training and Development: Identify training needs and facilitate skill development programs to enhance team capabilities and knowledge in asset accounting.
• Employee Engagement: Promote a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, open communication, and employee recognition to maintain high morale.
• Succession Planning: Develop and implement strategies for talent development and succession planning within the asset accounting team to ensure continuity and expertise.

Who You Are

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent accounting license is a nice to have but not required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fixed asset accounting or operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role within a shared service or global business services environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in fixed asset management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is essential.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of local and international accounting standards related to fixed assets (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
• Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to various stakeholders.
• Global Perspective: Experience working in a global environment with an understanding of different regional practices and regulations.
• Work Environment: Willingness to work at BGC, Taguig, during day shifts (9 AM - 6 PM) or mid shifts. Shifts change due to MEC.
