Qualifications

• 3+ years in accounting or ecommerce finance.

• Proficient with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with inventory movement, stock valuation and COGS reporting.
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with AI reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and loan/account reconciliations.
• Perform detailed P&L reviews and assist with management accounts.
• Track inventory movement and maintain stock reconciliations.
• Support tax compliance across multiple regions (GST/VAT).
• Process supplier invoices and manage accounts payable workflows.
• Analyze ecommerce transactions and improve reporting efficiency.

We are seeking an analytical Management Accountant to support financial reporting, month-end close, inventory accounting, tax compliance, and financial operations for a growing multi-region ecommerce business.

This role is responsible for preparing accurate management accounts, maintaining financial controls, reconciling inventory movement, and ensuring leadership has reliable financial information for decision-making.

The ideal candidate has experience working within DTC ecommerce businesses and understands how inventory flows from suppliers through warehouses and ultimately impacts revenue, cost of goods sold, and profitability.

Success in this role requires strong accounting fundamentals, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work with financial data across multiple markets.

This is not a transactional bookkeeping role. The ideal candidate should understand ecommerce accounting, inventory movement, stock valuation, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Support month-end close processes
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
• Complete loan and account reconciliations
• Perform detailed profit and loss reviews
• Assist with preparation of management accounts
• Identify financial discrepancies and investigate variances
• Provide accurate financial information for leadership review

Inventory & Cost Accounting

• Prepare stock-in-transit journals
• Prepare packaging cost journals
• Prepare cost of goods sold journals
• Maintain stock balance reconciliations
• Prepare distribution cost analysis and workpapers
• Track inventory movement from supplier to warehouse
• Ensure inventory accounting accurately reflects business operations

Tax Compliance Support

• Prepare and review indirect tax filings across multiple regions
• Support Australian GST/BAS reporting
• Support UK VAT preparation and lodgements
• Support EU VAT and distance-selling tax compliance
• Reconcile duties, taxes, and import-related costs
• Maintain accurate supporting documentation

Accounts Payable & Financial Operations

• Process supplier invoices accurately
• Review import duties and tax calculations
• Maintain supplier records and documentation
• Support payment and reconciliation workflows
• Improve accounting processes and financial controls
• Analyze Shopify sales and financial data
• Reconcile ecommerce transactions across systems
• Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within financial data
• Use technology and AI tools to improve reporting efficiency
• Support continuous improvement of finance workflows

Qualifications:

Required

• 3+ years of accounting, management accounting, or ecommerce finance experience
• Experience working within DTC ecommerce businesses
• Experience using Xero
• Experience working with Shopify financial data
• Experience preparing month-end close processes and management accounts
• Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations
• Experience with inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and COGS reporting
• Experience supporting multi-region ecommerce businesses
• Experience with apparel, fashion, or consumer product businesses
• Strong understanding of how inventory moves from supplier to warehouse
• Experience processing supplier invoices and managing accounts payable workflows
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
• Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
• Ability to investigate discrepancies and identify financial insights
• Comfortable using AI tools to improve efficiency
