SME Careers is seeking a Malay Language Specialist for an hourly remote contractor role. You review AI-generated Malay content, provide high-quality reference content, and give precise feedback on language quality, accuracy, tone, and cultural suitability.

You will write rewrites and model answers to demonstrate best practices in Malay writing and rate AI responses for correctness and quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
Native or near-native Malay proficiency (reading and writing).
Strong professional proficiency in English (C1).
3+ years in writing, editing, localization, translation or related language work.
Deep understanding of Malay grammar, spelling and style; able to explain fixes.
Experience with regional variation: Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, diaspora; formality levels.
High attention to detail spotting meaning shifts and cultural mismatches.
Reliable, self-directed, and can deliver quality in hourly remote work.
Prior AI data training/annotation or editorial QA preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop AI training content: prompts and gold Malay answers across domains.
Evaluate AI outputs to improve fluency, tone, and cultural appropriateness.
Identify unsafe or misleading content and validate reliability across use cases.
