Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of our fleet, including forklifts, cranes, trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment.
This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, managing technicians, controlling maintenance costs, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, leadership experience, and a background in heavy equipment or fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Equipment Management
- Oversee preventive maintenance (PM) programs for forklifts, cranes, trucks, and support equipment
- Ensure all equipment remains compliant with DOT, OSHA, ANSI, and manufacturer standards
- Schedule and manage inspections, certifications, and load testing for cranes and lifting equipment
- Monitor equipment utilization and lifecycle planning
- Coordinate major repairs, rebuilds, and equipment replacements
Team Leadership
- Supervise and lead maintenance technicians and mechanics
- Assign daily work orders and prioritize urgent repairs
- Ensure proper training and technical development of maintenance staff
- Enforce safety procedures within the maintenance department
Operational Efficiency
- Minimize equipment downtime through proactive maintenance planning
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and service logs
- Implement inventory controls for parts, tools, and supplies
- Negotiate with vendors and manage service contracts
- Track and control maintenance budgets and expenses
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with DOT requirements for commercial vehicles
- Maintain crane inspection and certification records
- Conduct shop safety audits and enforce proper lockout/tagout procedures
- Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions
Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance management experience in heavy equipment, construction, rigging, or fleet operations
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and lifting equipment
- Experience with crane maintenance and inspection standards preferred
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and fleet compliance requirements
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience
