Job summary

Cognizant is looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer for our fast-growing business area. An ideal candidate is a problem-solver, idea-maker and a high-energy individual.

This role demands strong COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL and VSAM skills for mainframe environments in the Philippines. Ideal candidates will also bring MQ messaging, Control-M scheduling, file transfer, and mainframe utilities proficiency, plus ISPF/TSO/SDSF, Git/GitLab for code, and solid change-management experience.

Qualifications

• COBOL development experience (COBOL 85/COBOL II or higher).
• Strong experience with CICS transaction processing, BMS maps, and online program development.
• Advanced DB2 SQL programming, stored procedures, cursors, and performance tuning.
• Proficient in writing and debugging JCL.
• Experience with VSAM file organization (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS).
• Experience with IBM MQ or equivalent messaging middleware.
• Experience with Control-M job scheduling.
• FTP, SFTP and batch file processing experience.
• Mainframe utilities: SORT, IEBGENER, IDCAMS.
• Experience with ISPF, TSO, SDSF.
• Git/GitLab for mainframe code.
• Familiarity with change management processes and deployment procedures.
• Reasoning through debugging tools and dump analysis.

Core Mainframe Technologies

• COBOL: COBOL development experience (COBOL 85/COBOL II or higher)
• CICS: Strong experience with CICS transaction processing, BMS maps, and online program development
