China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Philippines Branch is hiring a Local Compliance Accountant to manage the branch's full-cycle external accounting, tax filing, and record-keeping under Philippine standards.
The role reports to the Chinese finance team and supports local financial statements, BIR filings, and statutory documentation, while coordinating with external auditors and ensuring regulatory compliance.
About the role
We are currently recruiting one Local Compliance Accountant locally in the Philippines. The position will be primarily responsible for the Philippine Branch's full-cycle external accounting, tax filing, and accounting records management. The annual audit report will be issued by an external accounting firm. This position will not be responsible for signing audit reports, and the accounting work and major tax-related matters will be subject to the supervision and review of the Chinese finance team in China.
Key responsibilities
Handle the branch's full set of external accounting records in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS). Review original supporting documents, record accounting vouchers, maintain general and subsidiary ledgers, perform bank reconciliations, clear and reconcile receivables/payables and other intercompany or outstanding balances, and conduct month-end closing. Prepare monthly local financial statements, including the Balance Sheet and Income Statement.
Independently operate the BIR electronic filing systems, including eFPS and eBIRForms. Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings on time, including VAT, various withholding taxes, corporate income tax, and Alphalist schedules. Handle the filing and remittance of payroll-related statutory contributions and deductions, including SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG. Strictly monitor tax filing deadlines to avoid penalties arising from late or inaccurate filings.
Maintain statutory books of accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Organize, file, and maintain accounting vouchers, invoices, receipts, tax returns, and other financial and tax-related documents. Ensure that all records are complete and properly maintained for BIR inspections and external audit requirements.
Fully cooperate with the external accounting firm during the annual audit. Provide complete accounting records and detailed schedules in a timely manner, respond to audit inquiries, and provide supplementary documents as required.
Regularly submit local financial statements, tax returns, and relevant schedules to the Chinese finance team. Keep the Chinese finance team informed of changes in local tax and accounting policies and any tax compliance risks. Cooperate with the review and supervision of the Chinese finance team.
Identify accounting and tax compliance risks in daily work, promptly report them to the Chinese finance team, and provide recommendations for improvement. Implement relevant internal control and financial management requirements assigned by the Chinese finance team.
Perform other local finance-related tasks assigned by the Chinese finance team.
About you
Bachelor's degree in BS Accountancy from a recognized Philippine university or college. Candidates with a degree in Financial Management or Business Accounting may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
At least 2–3 years of hands-on full-cycle accounting experience with a Philippine company.
Must be able to independently handle complete monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and tax filing processes.
Familiar with Philippine PFRS/PAS accounting standards and BIR tax regulations.
Practical knowledge of VAT, withholding tax, corporate income tax, and other major Philippine taxes.
Familiar with rules regarding tax-deductible expenses and input VAT claims.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and other commonly used functions.
Proficient in mainstream accounting software such as QuickBooks and Xero, with the ability to quickly learn ERP systems such as NCC.
Fluent in written and spoken English, with the ability to independently handle English-language accounting and tax documents.
Must have a valid personal TIN (Tax Identification Number). Must have no record of tax non-compliance or major tax/accounting penalties.
