Job summary

Room to Read in the Philippines seeks a Literacy Facilitator to coach teachers, librarians and principals to boost children’s literacy and reading habits. You will report to the Literacy Program Officer/Associate and work at the project location, supporting schools and communities in program delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in education or social sciences and 2–3 years in development projects, with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in education or social sciences (or equivalent).
• 2-3 years of relevant development/education experience.
• Teaching experience at primary level preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop thorough understanding of Room to Read’s Literacy program design.
• Support literacy intervention across assigned project schools and ensure adherence to program design.
• Provide feedback on program design and implementation; serve as a resource for language development, literacy skills and reading.
• Undertake school visits with government partners; coach Grade 1 and 2 teachers in literacy instruction.
• Track library setup and management; support data collection and reporting; engage with principals and teachers.
