Job summary

Moder Solutions Inc. is seeking a Life/Health Underwriter to join a growing insurtech startup in Cebu City.

You will evaluate risks based on medical history, physical condition, occupational hazard, and financial background, making underwriting decisions in a collaborative environment. You will understand policies and guidelines, determine accept/modify/decline decisions, communicate clearly, influence process improvements while upholding mortality expectations, gather information efficiently,

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in medical Life/Health Underwriting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of risk selection (medical, non-medical, financial).
• Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
• Positive, inclusive, agile, and collaborative mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Term and permanent life underwriting experience.
• In process or completed industry designations (LOMA, ALMI, FMLI, ALU, FALU).
• Comfortable with ambiguity.
• Preferably with BPO experience.

Responsibilities

• Understand underwriting policies, guidelines, practices and procedures.
• Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of medical history or physical condition, occupational hazard, and financial background.
• Communicate effectively both written and verbally to explain underwriting decisions.
• Influence and champion changes to improve processes while maintaining mortality expectations.
• Work efficiently to gather information necessary for decision making.
• Independently work assigned requests with minimal direction.
