Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business, operations, and functional teams on corporate, commercial, banking, regulatory, and tax matters.
• Monitor and assess regulatory developments; provide guidance on emerging laws and tax implications.
• Conduct legal research and develop risk-based recommendations to support compliance and business objectives.
• Support engagement with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders.
• Partner with Finance on tax matters, corporate transactions, and funding initiatives.
• Provide legal support for strategic projects including lending programmes and payment solutions.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements and legal documents.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate legal/regulatory risks.

What You Will Do:

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to business, operational, and functional teams on a range of corporate, commercial, banking, regulatory, and tax matters.
• Monitor and assess legislative and regulatory developments, providing timely guidance on emerging laws, industry requirements, tax implications, and potential business impacts.
• Conduct legal research and develop practical, risk-based recommendations to support decision-making, regulatory compliance, and business objectives.
• Support engagement with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders on matters affecting the business.
• Partner closely with the Finance team on tax matters, corporate transactions, funding initiatives, and other financial and regulatory requirements.
• Provide legal support for strategic projects, including lending programmes, treasury initiatives, corporate funding activities, payment solutions, credit card products, and other financial services offerings.
• Review, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements, corporate documents, and legal documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify legal and regulatory risks, remove barriers, and enable the successful delivery of business objectives.
• Translate complex legal, regulatory, and tax requirements into clear, actionable advice for both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Support corporate governance initiatives and help ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Qualified lawyer in good standing.
• Proven experience in corporate, banking, financial services, fintech, payments, or another regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial contracting, banking and financial regulations, tax law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience advising on corporate transactions, financial services matters, and tax-related legal issues.
• Ability to provide practical, commercially sound legal advice that balances risk management with business objectives.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility, influence decisions, and work effectively across different levels of the organisation.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to simplify complex legal, regulatory, and tax issues into clear recommendations and actionable solutions.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong professional integrity, sound judgement, and attention to detail.
