Job summary

HERE Technologies is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to design and write software that enriches and cleans billions of places data for our maps. You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, drive performance, support production systems and mentor teammates.

You will apply Java and/or Scala, work with REST-based services, PostgreSQL / PostGIS, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure). You’ll collaborate with multiple teams and translate requirements into scalable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master’s degree in Computer Science/IS or equivalent.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong Java and/or Scala skills in backend systems.
• Experience with REST-based web services, JSON/XML.
• PostgreSQL / PostGIS expertise.
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure).
• Spark/PySpark for large-scale data processing.
• Proficient in testable code and unit testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and write software for enrichment and cleaning of Places data.
• Drive performance improvements and support production systems.
• Mentor team members and guide best practices.
• Develop tools and processes for development, testing and deployment.
• Interact with customers/users to support acceptance and feedback.
• Implement algorithms for AI/ML feature extraction and optimization.
• Low-level performance optimization of deep learning systems.
