Job summary

Astound Digital seeks a skilled React Frontend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable headless commerce interfaces using React.js, SF PWA Kit, and SFCC APIs. You will develop robust BFF layers, reusable UI components, and optimize performance within the Salesforce MRT environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of React.js frontend development in an eCommerce/API-driven environment.
• 3+ years building Salesforce Composable Storefronts with SF PWA Kit.
• 2+ years leading a team.
• 1+ year with Remix, React Router v7, or Next.js (SSR).
• Strong SFCC B2C knowledge including SLAS, SCAPI, and OCAPI.
• Experience with atomic design, TailwindCSS, and Storybook.
• Proficient in web performance and modern testing (Jest/Vitest/Playwright/Cypress).
• Bachelor’s or Master in Computer Science and excellent English.

Job Purpose

As a React Frontend Engineer at Astound Digital, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-performance headless commerce solutions using React.js and the Salesforce (SF) PWA Kit or SF Next. You will bridge the gap between dynamic user experiences and enterprise backend systems by developing robust Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers and implementing modern, reusable atomic UI components tailored for Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC). Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, you will champion code quality, React best practices, web performance, and innovative frontend architectures that empower world-renowned brands. This role offers an exciting opportunity to mentor fellow engineers and stay at the forefront of modern, headless, and API-driven React development within the SFCC ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and performant headless commerce architectures using React.js, SF PWA Kit, and modern CSS frameworks.
• Design and implement robust Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers and data orchestration strategies to aggregate, filter, and optimize data flowing from Salesforce Commerce APIs (SCAPI) and OCAPI into the React storefront.
• Build reusable, modular React UI components from the ground up using atomic design principles, Storybook, and mocking layers to isolate UI logic.
• Optimize React applications for maximum server and client-side performance within the Salesforce Managed Runtime (MRT) environment, focusing on core web vitals, edge data fetching, and multi-tier caching strategies.
• Collaborate with backend, DevOps, and product teams to drive end-to-end user experiences while advocating for product engineering needs.
• Establish high standards for code quality, React testing automation (unit, integration, E2E), and comprehensive technical documentation for headless commerce storefronts.
• Lead knowledge-sharing sessions, mentorship programs, and resilience planning to continuously upskill teams and improve the enterprise React tech stack.
• Practical experience working in an AI-first environment and Spec Driven Development (SpecKit, OpenSpec, SPDD)

Qualifications and Skills

• 5+ years of industry experience with a strong focus on React.js and frontend development, ideally within eCommerce, headless, and API-driven architectures.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building Salesforce Composable Storefronts using SF PWA Kit and deploying to the Salesforce Managed Runtime.
• 2+ years of experience leading a team.
• 1+ years of commercial experience with Remix, React Router v7, or Next.js with a deep understanding of SSR and Server and Client context
• Deep knowledge of the Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC) B2C ecosystem, including Salesforce Shopper Login and API Access Service (SLAS), SCAPI, OCAPI, and platform-specific data models.
• Practical experience applying atomic architecture patterns, building React component libraries with TailwindCSS, and using Storybook development sandboxes.
• Deep knowledge of web performance optimization (Core Web Vitals) specifically within modern React applications, and strong quality controls using tools like Jest, Vitest, Playwright, or Cypress.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) combined with excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Familiarity with micro-frontends, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), or observability tooling is a strong plus.
• Experience with AI-Native coding tools - Cursor, Cloud Code, and knowledge of configuring the harness and effective token utilization
