Amadeus leads the Loyalty competency center, delivering Java-based solutions at global scale. The Lead Principal Engineer will guide architecture and delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable loyalty services using Java, Spring Boot, and Kubernetes.

You will shape technical strategy, mentor engineers, and ensure robust, high-quality software throughout the lifecycle. This role emphasizes ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement within a global travel tech

Qualifications

• Experience developing enterprise software applications using Java and Java EE.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring or Hibernate.
• Experience leading technical delivery within Agile environments.
• Experience designing and optimizing multithreaded or concurrent applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and development of Java-based applications and services through hands‑on solution design, implementation and technical guidance
• Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, ensuring high‑quality solutions from design and development through testing, maintenance and operational support.
• Lead the investigation and resolution of complex technical challenges, driving root‑cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts through proactive system maintenance, technical debt reduction, and resolution of complex application issues.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
• Continuously explore and adopt new technologies, tools, and best practices.
• Lead technical discussions and solution clarifications with customers and stakeholders.

About the Ideal Candidate

• Experience developing enterprise software applications using Java and Java Enterprise technologies
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring, or Hibernate is an advantage.
• Experience with Angular is considered an advantage.
• Experience leading technical delivery within Agile development environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Experience designing and optimizing multithreaded or concurrent applications is a strong advantage.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, engineering principles, and software development best practices, with the ability to guide technical decisions and elevate engineering quality.
