The role is designed for a full-stack engineer with strong backend expertise who can translate business and product requirements into secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable software.
The role will lead solution design and engineering execution across APIs, microservices, integrations, data flows, and customer-facing applications. It will also establish development standards, guide engineers through complex technical decisions, and work closely with Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Operations, Quality Engineering, and external partners to deliver production‑ready capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design, development, enhancement, and support of The company’s fintech platforms and solutions, with primary emphasis on backend services and integrations.
- Own solution design at the application level, including service boundaries, API contracts, data models, integration patterns, error handling, observability, resiliency, and deployment considerations.
- Develop and review production‑grade backend code while contributing to front‑end components when required.
- Translate product, operational, regulatory, and security requirements into clear technical designs, engineering tasks, and delivery plans.
- Provide day‑to‑day technical direction to developers, including task decomposition, design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and engineering coaching.
- Set and enforce coding standards, branching and release practices, secure development controls, automated testing expectations, and documentation requirements.
- Design and maintain secure APIs and integrations with payment networks, banks, billers, merchants, enterprise systems, and third‑party service providers.
- Partner with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to embed security, privacy, availability, monitoring, and recovery requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Improve platform performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability through profiling, refactoring, automation, and disciplined technical debt management.
- Support CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, environment management, production releases, and post‑deployment validation in partnership with platform and operations teams.
- Lead technical investigation and resolution of complex production incidents; drive root cause analysis and durable corrective actions.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, interface specifications, runbooks, decision records, and other technical documentation needed for support, audit, and knowledge transfer.
- Evaluate frameworks, tools, and engineering approaches based on business fit, security, supportability, total cost, and long‑term sustainability.
- Coordinate effectively with vendors and technology partners, validating technical deliverables and ensuring alignment with the company’s engineering standards.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience designing, building, integrating, and operating enterprise or high‑transaction applications, preferably in fintech, payments, banking, e‑commerce, or other regulated environments.
- Deep backend engineering capability using a modern server‑side language and framework such as Java/Spring Boot, C#/.NET, Node.js/TypeScript, Go, or an equivalent enterprise stack.
- Practical full‑stack development experience using a modern web framework such as React, Angular, or Vue, with the ability to guide end‑to‑end implementation.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, event‑driven architecture, microservices, asynchronous messaging, integration patterns, and distributed system fundamentals.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, schema design, query optimization, transactions, caching, and data consistency patterns.
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerization, CI/CD, infrastructure and application monitoring, logging, and automated testing.
- Working knowledge of secure software development, identity and access management, encryption, secrets handling, vulnerability remediation, and common application security risks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions, make sound engineering trade‑offs, mentor developers, and communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and delivery skills, with ownership from design through production support.
- Experience with payment processing concepts, reconciliation, settlement, transaction lifecycle, or integration with financial institutions is an advantage.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent professional experience and demonstrated technical leadership may be considered.
- Relevant cloud, software engineering, architecture, security, or agile certifications are an advantage.
Preferred Skill/s:
- Backend architecture and development; API and microservices design; system integration; full‑stack web development.
- Java/Spring Boot, C#/.NET, Node.js/TypeScript, or Go; React, Angular, or Vue.
- SQL and NoSQL databases; messaging and streaming platforms; caching technologies.
- Cloud‑native development on AWS, Azure, or equivalent; Docker and Kubernetes.
- CI/CD, automated testing, observability, performance engineering, and production troubleshooting.
- Secure coding, DevSecOps, OWASP practices, and software supply chain security.
- Fintech and payments domain knowledge, including transaction processing, reconciliation, settlement, and third‑party integrations.
- Technical leadership, mentoring, stakeholder management, vendor coordination, and clear technical documentation.
