Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) invites a Senior Structural Engineer to lead bridge design and analysis for transportation projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with international standards. You will perform advanced calculations with MIDAS Civil and STAAD, develop drawings and specifications, and assess safety, durability, and constructability.

This role emphasizes project management, mentoring, and effective communication with clients and authorities throughout design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Licensed/registered Civil Engineer.
• 8+ years of experience in bridge or structural engineering design.
• Strong proficiency in structural software (MIDAS, STAAD).
• Solid understanding of geotechnical principles, materials engineering, and construction methods.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of bridges and other transport structures.
• Perform advanced structural calculations using MIDAS Civil, STAAD, etc.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design drawings and specifications.
• Evaluate structural systems for safety, durability, constructability, and cost-efficiency.
• Carry out design checks, peer reviews, and value engineering exercises.
• Lead and coordinate design activities across multidisciplinary teams.
• Prepare design schedules, work plans, and resource estimates.
• Support preparation of project proposals, reports, feasibility studies, and tenders.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure deliverables meet scope, budget, and timelines.
• Provide technical support during construction, including shop drawing review and site inspections.
