Job summary

Agoda is seeking an Engineering Manager for its Back End Engineering team in Gurugram, India. You will lead one or more backend teams, build scalable platforms, and drive architectural decisions while mentoring engineers and promoting best practices.

Ideal candidates will combine hands-on coding with strong leadership, have experience with distributed systems, DevOps, and security, and be comfortable collaborating with Product and Data Science teams. Relocation support is provided.

Qualifications

Extremely proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Scala, or C#).
Strong backend engineering experience with scalable production systems.
Deep knowledge of distributed systems, fault tolerance, and architecture.
Experience owning systems with operational responsibilities and end-to-end delivery.
Solid understanding of DevOps, automation, CI/CD, observability, and security.

Responsibilities

Stay hands-on by writing and reviewing code and guiding engineers.
Lead backend engineering initiatives for scalable, reliable distributed systems.
Make architectural decisions and ensure systems are well designed and maintained.
Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and other teams to deliver impactful tech solutions.
Own systems lifecycle from design to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Foster engineering excellence through automation and data‑driven decision making.
