Job summary

Enderun Colleges invites applications for a Korean Language Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction aligned with TOPIK I and II, focusing on Communicative Language Teaching to develop learners’ communicative competence and TOPIK readiness.

The successful candidate will design lessons, develop materials, manage course content in the LMS, provide timely feedback, track progress, and participate in curriculum development within the Language Programs.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Korean and TOPIK standards.

  • Familiarity with curriculum design and assessment development.
  • Experience with digital teaching platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Korean language classes (listening, reading, writing, speaking) aligned with TOPIK I & II.
  • Apply Communicative Language Teaching to promote real-life language use.
  • Plan structured lessons based on curricula and assessment targets.
  • Develop materials and assessments tailored to learners.
  • Prepare students for TOPIK formats and strategies.
  • Utilize LMS to manage content, assignments, and progress.
  • Provide timely feedback and remediation to learners.
  • Monitor student performance and attendance per program standards.
  • Participate in curriculum review and academic meetings.
  • Maintain an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.

Synopsis of Role

The Korean Language Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality Korean language instruction aligned with TOPIK I and TOPIK II proficiency standards. The role focuses on developing learners’ communicative competence through a Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach while preparing students for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) examination.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver engaging Korean language classes covering listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills aligned with TOPIK I and II requirements.

  • Apply Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) methodologies to promote practical language use and real-life interaction.

  • Plan structured lessons based on curriculum outcomes, proficiency descriptors, and assessment targets.

  • Develop instructional materials, assessments, and supplementary resources tailored to learner needs.

  • Prepare students for TOPIK examination formats, strategies, and performance expectations.

  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to manage course content, assignments, assessments, and learner progress.

  • Provide timely feedback, coaching, and remediation to support learner development.

  • Monitor and document student performance and attendance in accordance with program standards.

  • Participate in curriculum review, program development, and academic meetings.

  • Maintain an engaging, inclusive, and culturally informed classroom environment.

  • Stay updated on developments in Korean language education, assessment standards, and pedagogy.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Korean Language Education, Korean Studies, Linguistics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Recognized certification for teaching Korean as a foreign language (e.g., Korean Language Teacher Qualification or equivalent).

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Korean (TOPIK Level 5 or 6, or native-level fluency).

  • Proven experience teaching Korean as a Second/Foreign Language, particularly in TOPIK preparation.

  • Experience applying Communicative Language Teaching or learner-centered methodologies.

  • Familiarity with curriculum design, assessment development, and instructional material creation.

  • Experience using Learning Management Systems and digital teaching platforms.
