Job summary

ALEC Holdings seeks a Junior Measuring Quantity Surveyor based in the Philippines to support UAE projects. You will work with the pre-contract commercial team, handling quantity take-offs and BOQ preparation across tender stages.

The role offers learning opportunities under experienced estimators and senior QS staff, with site visit exposure when required. You will develop technical and commercial skills, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in measurements, and contribute to tender documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience in quantity surveying or construction measurement.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specs, and technical docs.
• Familiarity with standard methods of measurement (POMI, CESMM, NRM 1 & 2).
• Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office tools.
• Experience with quantity take-off software (AutoCAD, PlanSwift, CAD Measure) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from drawings, specs, BIM models, and tender docs across all design stages.
• Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) per standard methods and latest tender docs.
• Review drawings/specifications to identify inconsistencies and raise RFIs as needed.
• Collaborate with estimators and senior QS to ensure complete scope coverage and reduce errors.
• Update quantities promptly after addenda and revised drawings to meet deadlines.
• Support post-award measurement, variations, and quantity updates during projects.

As a Junior Measuring Quantity Surveyor, you will support the pre-contract commercial team by delivering accurate quantity take-offs, preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and assisting with tendering activities across a wide range of landmark construction projects. Your Role

• Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings, specifications, reports, BIM models, and tender documentation across all design stages, from concept through to issue-for-construction.
• Measure a broad range of construction disciplines including:

Structural steel

External works and landscaping

Earthworks and site works

• Assist in the preparation and production of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) in accordance with POMI and other recognized standard methods of measurement where applicable.
• Ensure BOQs fully reflect the latest issued tender documentation and identify additional measured items where required.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify inconsistencies, missing information, and design conflicts, raising RFIs where necessary.
• Support value engineering exercises by measuring alternative design solutions and identifying quantity impacts.
• Update measured quantities promptly following addenda, revised drawings, and RFI responses to meet tender submission deadlines.
• Collaborate closely with estimators, package managers, team leaders, and fellow quantity surveyors to ensure complete scope coverage and minimize measurement errors.
• Prepare measurement assumptions and support the development of tender qualifications and Schedule of Departures.
• Participate in quantity reconciliations with client and consultant quantity surveyors where required.
• Assist with post-award measurement exercises, variations, and quantity updates as projects progress.
• Maintain accurate measurement records while ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with company procedures.

What We're looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience in quantity surveying, quantity take-offs, or construction measurement, preferably within building or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, schedules, sections, elevations, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with standard methods of measurement such as POMI, CESMM, NRM 1 & 2, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity measurement principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using AutoCAD, PlanSwift, CAD Measure, or similar quantity take-off software.
• Exposure to BIM platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, or other 3D modelling software is an advantage.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• High attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical construction documentation accurately.
