Job summary

BEDC Philippines Limited Inc. seeks an experienced structural engineer to review drawings, develop timber design solutions, and prepare accurate cost estimates for residential and commercial projects.

You will apply wind and load criteria, model timber components with Pryda/Alpine/MiTek/GangNail, and ensure outputs comply with country standards and SLAs. Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams is essential for project success.

Qualifications

• Review and interpret drawings, architectural plans, and specs for residential and commercial projects.
• Apply structural principles to ensure compliance with country standards and codes.
• Model and verify timber elements using Pryda, Alpine, MiTek or GangNail software.
• Prepare cost estimates, take-offs, and material forecasts per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural design solutions for residential and commercial projects.
• Assess wind, dead, and live loads to determine design criteria.
• Generate accurate estimates based on client specs and drawings.
• Ensure outputs meet service levels and deadlines; escalate gaps when needed.

Job description

Technical/Functional Competencies :

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, architectural plans, structural layouts,
• technical specifications and other essential documents for residential and commercial
• building projects, ensuring compliance with civil and structural engineering principles.
• Develop structural design solutions for residential and commercial projects in accordance
• with applicable country standards, building codes, and engineering principles.
• Apply structural engineering principles to assess load conditions (wind, dead, and live
• loads, etc.) and evaluate structural adequacy, stability, and deflection performance of
• timber elements.
• Determine design criterias such as wind classification and load assumptions, for
• residential and commercial structural designs.
• Use structural design software (e.g., Pryda, Alpine, MiTek and GangNail) to model, analyze,
• and verify timber structural elements in line with engineering requirements.
• Prepare civil/structural engineering cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and material
• forecasts in accordance with company estimating procedures, engineering standards, and
• relevant country standards.
• Generate accurate estimates for residential and commercial construction projects based
• on client specifications, drawings, and company procedures.
• Ensure all estimates and designs are completed within agreed service level agreements
• (SLAs) and project deadlines.
• Identify missing information, discrepancies, or potential issues in drawings and plans,
• and escalation through appropriate channels.
• Maintain accuracy and consistency in estimating and design outputs to minimize
• revisions and client returns.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, Operations Manager, Team Leaders, and the
• Quality Assurance Manager, to resolve technical and design issues.
• Communicate project updates, technical concerns, and clarifications clearly and
• professionally, and seek guidance when requirements are unclear.
