Job summary

Continent 8 Technologies in Manila, Philippines is seeking a diligent Junior Accountant to join our finance team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on tax compliance, financial reporting, and supporting accounts receivable/payable processes.

You will report to the Senior Accountant and contribute to an efficient, well-controlled finance function by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit readiness across local regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a similar role with direct experience in Philippines tax and compliance.
• Hold a relevant accounting qualification.
• Experience with Sage Intacct and Yooz is valuable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate books of accounts and records per policies.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
• Prepare tax returns and manage VAT, EWT, FWT as applicable.

Junior Accountant

As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking a Junior Accountant to join our growing team on a permanent basis located in Manila, Philippines

Reporting into the Senior Accountant, the Junior Accountant will have primary responsibility for the compliance with local Philippines tax and financial reporting for our growing businesses, together with supporting the wider C8 business with accounting and financial administrative tasks. As part of our finance department this role will support an efficient and well controlled finance function.

The Role

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Maintaining accurate books of accounts and supporting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances and compliance with internal financial controls.
• Preparing monthly journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations.
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating reconciling items promptly.
• Assisting in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Supporting management reporting requirements through the preparation of financial analysis and reports.
• Ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and audit ready.

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

• Preparing and filing monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns in compliance with Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) requirements.
• Experience in invoice automation/registration of system implementation in the Philippines would be highly advantageous.
• Calculating and filing VAT, Expanded Withholding Tax (EWT), Final Withholding Tax (FWT), and other applicable local taxes.
• Preparing annual income tax returns and supporting tax schedules.
• Managing tax calendars and ensuring all statutory filing deadlines are met.
• Liaising directly with the BIR and other government agencies as required.
• Supporting BIR audits, tax assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Maintaining compliance with statutory reporting requirements including SEC, LGU, and other local regulatory filings where applicable.
• Monitoring changes in Philippine tax legislation and advising management on regulatory developments.

Accounts Receivable & Customer Support

• Monitoring customer collections and aged receivables.
• Following up with local customers regarding outstanding balances and payment queries.
• Supporting customer invoicing processes and ensuring compliance with local tax invoicing requirements.
• Reconciling customer accounts and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Partnering with sales and operational teams to improve collection performance and cash flow.

Accounts Payable & Treasury

• Reviewing supplier invoices for accuracy and tax compliance.
• Ensuring appropriate withholding taxes are applied and reported correctly.
• Processing supplier payments in accordance with company policies.
• Supporting cash flow forecasting and treasury activities.
• Maintaining vendor records and ensuring compliance with documentation requirements.

Payroll & Employee Compliance

• Reviewing payroll accounting entries and reconciliations.
• Supporting payroll tax compliance, including remittances and filings.
• Coordinating with payroll providers and HR regarding employee-related statutory obligations.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Minimum of 3 years in similar role, with direct experience with Philippines tax legislation and compliance
• Hold a relevant Accounting Qualification
• Experience of accounting software packages (knowledge of Sage Intacctand Yoozwould be valuable butnot required), with proven ability to learn new software packages.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products,primarilyExcel(Pivot tables, V lookup, etc.)
• Good organizational skills withstrongability to multi-task andkeenattention to detailwith large data sets.
• Plans and prioritizes work effectively and ensures deadlines are metand communicates effectively when there is an issue preventing a deadline from being met.
• Proactive approach to issue resolutionand follow up.
• Must be able to speak and write English fluently with excellent communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter with the ability towork on own initiative and as part of a team.
