Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim under guidance from senior engineers.
• Support enquiry, application, and registration processes for energy projects, including HV grid connections, substation design, and generating plant power systems.
• Review designs for compliance with Australian Standards, Statutory Requirements, and Client Specifications.
• Participate in site inspections alongside senior engineers, data collection and report preparation.
• Contribute to development of cost-effective engineering solutions through research and analysis.
• Apply the Quality Management System (QMS) to assigned tasks, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Undertake billable consulting work in the Electrical Engineering area including Generation, HV Transmission and Distribution.
• Support Senior Engineers in planning and scheduling tasks within the department to meet timelines and budgets.
• Assist in pursuing new project opportunities including tender submissions with team support.
• Provide technical and project admin support and participate in team meetings and initiatives.

Profile Requirements

Required

• Bachelor of Electrical Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Progression towards registration as a Professional Engineer.
• A solid understanding of different NSP (Network Service Provider) standards and construction practises.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sound communication skills to effectively engage with all stakeholders.

Preferred

• Experience with power system analysis tools including PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim in RMS and EMT environments.

Core responsibilities

Technical Engineering Support

• Assist in performing power system studies using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Hypersim under guidance from senior engineers.
• Support the enquiry, application, and registration processes for energy projects, including HV grid connections, substation design, and generating plant power systems.

Project Coordination & Consulting

• Undertake billable consulting work in the Electrical Engineering area, including the fields of Generation, High Voltage Transmission and Distribution.
• Support Senior Engineers in managing electrical engineering tasks to meet time, cost, and quality requirements.
• Assist in planning and scheduling tasks within the department, ensuring work aligns with project timelines and objectives.
• Support management in pursuing new project opportunities as they arise, including preparing tender submissions and proposals with the assistance of other staff as required.

Team Support & Safety

• Provide technical support to the engineering team, learning from senior staff and contributing to project execution.
• Provide general project admin support to teams and actively participate in team meetings and company initiatives.
• Ensure all EPEC Group works are managed safely and meet legislative and client requirements.
