Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Java developer with 2-3+ years of hands-on experience and a track record in leading teams. The role focuses on translating functional specs into robust applications, delivering high-quality code, and mentoring developers across the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in Spring, Hibernate, Java SE/EE, and associated web technologies, with strong UNIX/Linux knowledge and experience with common app servers.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of Java development experience.
• Experience leading a team and coordinating tasks in a process-driven environment.
• Knowledge of DevOps is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Java SE/EE, Spring Framework, and Hibernate ORM.

Responsibilities

• Create technical design documentation and UML diagrams.
• Translate functional specifications/use cases into functional applications.
• Develop code that conforms to organization coding standards.
• Estimate effort and time for assigned tasks.
• Ensure code quality via unit and functional testing.
• Identify bottlenecks and devise optimization solutions.
• Develop code for new or enhanced applications/systems.
• Provide maintenance and production support for existing apps.
• Perform code reviews for quality and functionality.
• Analyze functional specs and delegate tasks to developers.
• Monitor progress against timelines for on-time delivery.
• Participate in business/technical discussions to translate requirements.

Job description

Responsibilities :

• Create technical design documentation and UML diagrams
• Analyze and translate functional specifications / use cases into functional applications
• Develop codes that conforms to the coding standards set by the organization
• Estimate the effort and time required for the assigned task
• Ensure code quality by performing unit and functional testing
• Identify bottlenecks and issues to devise solution and optimization to address the problem
• Develop code for new applications as well as enhancing or adding new features to the existing applications/systems.
• Provide maintenance and production support to the existing application
• Perform code review to check quality and functionality of the code developed by Developers
• Analyze functional specification and delegate the task to the Developers
• Monitor project progress against with project timelines to ensure on time completion of project deliverables
• Participate on business and technical discussions/meetings to translate functional requirements to technical detailed designs
• Research on new tools / emerging technologies that can be utilized for the development of new or existing applications
• Contribute and participate in improving coding standards, best practices, and policies of the organization
• Perform other work-related task/duties assigned

Qualifications :

• Must have at least 2-3 years of Java development experience
• Experience in leading a team in facilitating activities and organizing task assignment in a process oriented manner
• Knowledge on DevOps is an advantage
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's) :
• At least 3 years experience on Java SE /Java EE technologies
• At least 3 years experience on Spring Framework (Core, MVC, Security AOP)
• At least 3 years experience on Hibernate ORM
• At least 2 years experience on Javascript, CSS, HTML and other client side technologies
• Advance knowledge on Web Services (SOAP / REST)
• Strong understanding on Java Design Patterns
• Strong understanding of object oriented programming
• Good understanding of LINUX
• Extensive experience with applications Servers (Jetty, JBOSS, Tomcat)
• Extensive experience with databases (Oracle, MySQL)
• Knowledge with source code repository (SVN, GIT, Mercurial)
• Knowledge with IDE such as Eclipse / IntelliJ
