Job Description

The Java Architect is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and robust Java-based enterprise solutions. This role involves defining technical architectures, evaluating technology stacks, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software systems that align with business objectives and architectural best practices. The architect will provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.

Responsibilities

1. Architectural Leadership & Design – defines and evolves the technical vision and architecture for Java-based enterprise applications, translating business requirements into scalable, secure designs. This involves evaluating new technologies and patterns, then documenting comprehensive architectural blueprints to guide development efforts and ensure long-term system integrity.
2. Technical Oversight & Mentorship – provides critical technical leadership, guiding multiple development teams to ensure consistent implementation of architectural principles and best practices. They also mentor developers, sharing deep expertise and fostering growth in areas like code quality, performance optimization, and secure coding.
3. System Development Lifecycle & Integration – oversees the entire software development lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into precise technical specifications. They ensure seamless integration across diverse systems using various patterns and drive the adoption of CI/CD to streamline development and deployment.
4. Performance, Scalability & Security Assurance – A primary responsibility is designing and implementing inherently performant, highly scalable, and resilient systems that handle increasing loads and guarantee high availability. Architects also fortify application security, implementing robust measures and ensuring compliance to protect sensitive data and maintain system integrity.
5. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 3-4 years in a dedicated Architect role.
3. Expert-level proficiency in Java and related technologies, including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, JPA, etc.
4. Extensive experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance, and secure enterprise applications.
5. Deep understanding of architectural patterns (e.g., Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, Layered Architecture, MVC, etc.).
6. Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including knowledge of their compute, storage, networking, and database services.
7. Strong experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
8. Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra).
9. Experience with message brokers and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).
10. Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
11. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
12. Experience with front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
13. Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
14. Experience with enterprise integration patterns and tools.
15. Experience in specific industry domains (e.g., Fintech, Healthcare, E-commerce).
16. Certifications in Java, cloud platforms, or architecture frameworks. Preferred but not required.
17. Skilled in communicating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, with strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
18. Willing to work during US business hours, on shifting schedules, or on weekends.
