Job summary

SuiteWorks, a Cebu-based software solutions company, is seeking a Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications across web, mobile, and enterprise systems. You will contribute across the full SDLC in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You should have at least 2 years of hands-on Java experience, strong knowledge of Spring, Hibernate, and front-end basics, and familiarity with cloud platforms, DevOps, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years of Java experience with strong OO programming and Java EE.
• Proficiency in Spring (Boot, MVC, Security) and Hibernate; solid DB/ORM knowledge.
• Front-end basics (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React) and build tools like Maven/Gradle/Ant.
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) and DevOps (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiar with Agile/Scrum and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design & Architecture – Translate requirements into scalable designs, including system architecture, DB schemas, and API specs.
• Software Development – Write clean, modular Java code for frontend services, APIs, and integrations; manage source control.
• Quality Assurance & Code Review – Ensure code quality via unit tests, QA collaboration, and code reviews.
• Deployment & Production Support – Support automated builds, configuration of environments, and production support.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Java Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable Java applications that meet the evolving needs of our clients and business. This role involves working on various projects, including web applications, mobile applications, and enterprise-level software systems, in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. A Java Developer plays a critical role across the entire software development lifecycle, with distinct responsibilities in each phase.

Responsibilities

1. Design & Architecture – Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, including system architecture, database schemas, and API specifications.
2. Software Development – Develop clean, efficient, and modular Java code for frontend services, APIs, and integrations while managing source control and debugging issues.
3. Quality Assurance & Code Review – Ensure code quality through comprehensive unit testing, collaboration with QA teams, and active participation in code reviews and defect resolution.
4. Deployment & Production Support – Support automated build and deployment processes, configure environments, and provide technical assistance for production systems.
5. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. With at least 2 years of experience. Experienced Java developer with strong expertise in Java and object-oriented programming, skilled in Java EE application development. Proficient in frameworks like Spring (Boot, MVC, Security) and Hibernate, with solid knowledge of relational databases and ORM tools. Capable of working with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Angular, React), familiar with build tools (Maven, Gradle, Ant), and experienced with version control systems like Git.
3. Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
4. Familiarity with agile software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
5. Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
6. Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE Developer, Spring Professional Certification). Preferred but not required.
7. Experienced in common design and architectural patterns with strong analytical and organizational skills. Able to work independently or collaboratively, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
8. Willing to work during US business hours, on shifting schedules, or on weekends.
