Job summary

ConnectOS in Metro Manila is seeking a senior Java developer with 5+ years of commercial experience to design, implement, and optimize Java applications in a hybrid setup (onsite once per week). You will work across backend services, cloud deployments, and front-end integrations using React or Vue.

The role involves delivering reliable Java services, participating in architectural discussions, maintaining code quality, and ensuring SLAs. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial Java development experience.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot/Spring and REST APIs.
• Front-end experience with React or Vue.
• Experience deploying and debugging backend cloud apps on AWS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of quality Java application services for FBAU.
• Analyze business requirements with internal users and develop robust Java code.
• Monitor, maintain, and performance-tune production Java applications.
• Ensure SLAs and KPIs are met for Java engineering services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions with the Solution Architect.
• Document architecture, designs, and operational procedures.
• Review and recommend build tools and processes for new Java implementations.
• Participate in IS strategy design and knowledge sharing sessions.
• Provide after-hours support via rotational On-Call.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (07:00 AM - 04:00 PM PHT) (occassional after office shifts)

Work Setup: Hybrid (1x a week onsite)

What are we looking for?

Skills Required:

• Requirement analysis, solution architecture design, resource-based API modelling and micro services architecture
• Experience in front end web application frameworks.
• Experience in developing, deploying, debugging, and testing backend cloud applications.
• Demonstrate solid verbal and written communication skills
• 5+ years commercial experience as a Java developer
• - Extensive experience and skills in working with Java, Spring Boot/Spring,REST API's, Web frameworks (React/Vue)
• 3+ years' experience working with AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, Cloudfront, lambda, CloudWatch)
• Working knowledge of azure cloud and application development
• Experience on SQL databases (Postgre, Oracle, SQL Server) and NO SQL databases such as DynamoDB
• Deep knowledge and hands on experience in middleware SOA microservices, API management platforms and related activities
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
• Comfortable in Linux environments

What will you do?

Key Result Area 1

• Support the on-going delivery of quality application services to FBAU
• Engage in the analysis and review of business requirements with FBAU internal customers users and develop appropriate, robust, extensible, quality and efficient JAVA application programming code to meet requirements
• Effectively and efficiently monitor, maintain, performance tune and troubleshoot the production JAVA application portfolio
• Ensure that agreed SLA's and KPI's are met for JAVA application engineering services
• Leverage industry best practice and emerging technologies to enhance the JAVA applications portfolio as part of a quality continuous improvement process
• Work with Solution Architect and provide input into architectural decisions for the application development
• Ensure that all JAVA application engineering work practices and systems processes are comprehensively documented such as architecture and design documents, as well as operational procedures
• Analyse, review and recommend JAVA application engineering development and continuous build tools and processes to support new JAVA implementations to your team leader
• Actively support the execution of the IS strategy for the JAVA applications portfolio by participating and engaging in design and knowledge sharing workshops
• Provide after-hours support by participating in a rotational On Call roster

• Delivery of new JAVA application engineering projects
• Work with FBAU stakeholders for scoping, designing, planning, engineering and implementation of new JAVA application solutions and services to meet business requirements
• Ensure that the java application code deployed meets set quality standards
• Ensure all JAVA source code is written in alignment with established industry standards and best practices

• Maintain customer satisfaction through quality engagements
• Proactively respond to customer enquiries/issues through regular and open communication with stakeholders satisfying needs promptly to build mutually beneficial relationships
