Job Description:
The Internal Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the company's premises, assets, and personnel. This includes monitoring access points, patrolling the facility, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with security protocols. The officer will work closely with the security team to prevent unauthorized access, theft, and other security breaches.
Key Responsibilities:
Access Control:
Monitor and control the entry and exit of employees, visitors, and contractors.
Verify identification, issue visitor passes, and ensure adherence to company protocols for access.
Operate security equipment such as CCTV, access control systems, and alarms.
Surveillance and Monitoring:
Conduct regular patrols of the premises to ensure all areas are secure.
Monitor security cameras and report any suspicious activity or breaches.
Respond promptly to alarms and investigate disturbances.
Incident Response:
Respond to emergencies such as fire, medical situations, and security breaches.
Provide immediate assistance and coordinate with law enforcement or emergency services as needed.
Prepare incident reports and maintain accurate records of security incidents.
Asset Protection:
Safeguard company assets by preventing theft, damage, or loss.
Conduct routine inspections of sensitive areas and equipment.
Report any anomalies or risks that could compromise security.
Compliance and Enforcement:
Ensure that all staff, visitors, and contractors follow company security policies and procedures.
Enforce security rules and regulations, including restricted access zones and safety protocols.
Assist in investigations related to security breaches or misconduct.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
Participate in drills and emergency response training.
Provide guidance to staff during evacuations or emergency situations.
Assist in maintaining the integrity of emergency exits, equipment, and procedures.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other departments, especially facilities management, to ensure a secure working environment.
Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external security agencies.
Provide security updates and recommendations for improvements as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security or related fields are a plus.
Proven experience in a security role, preferably in an internal security or corporate environment.
Strong knowledge of security protocols, equipment, and procedures.
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays if required.
Familiarity with security software and tools (CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
First Aid or CPR certification is an advantage.
Experience in incident report writing and investigation.
