Educar Shared Services Inc. is seeking an experienced Leader to head its internal audit function in the Philippines. The role will design, implement, and monitor business processes, policies, and controls across the organization to strengthen governance and compliance.
You will lead audits, assess risks, and report findings with practical recommendations, while supervising the internal audit team and ensuring independence and adherence to standards.
Responsible for leading the internal audit function of Educar Shared Services Inc., ensuring that business processes, policies, and operational activities across the organization are properly designed, implemented, and monitored. The role provides independent and objective assessments, identifies control gaps and risks, and recommends practical improvements to strengthen governance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Internal Audit & Risk Assessment
Develop and implement the annual internal audit plan based on identified business, operational, and compliance risks.
Lead and manage internal audit engagements across ESSI and its supported business units.
Conduct risk assessments to identify potential control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, and areas of exposure.
Review the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, policies, procedures, and approval processes.
Perform process walkthroughs, testing, and validation of controls and transactions.
Evaluate business processes to identify opportunities for cost efficiency, process improvement, and risk mitigation.
Audit Execution & Reporting
Lead audit planning, fieldwork, documentation, testing, and completion of audit engagements.
Review audit findings and ensure that conclusions are supported by sufficient and appropriate documentation.
Prepare clear and comprehensive audit reports highlighting observations, risks, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
Present significant audit findings and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.
Monitor and report the status of agreed management action plans and remediation activities.
Conduct follow-up audits to validate whether corrective actions have been properly implemented.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Assess compliance with company policies, procedures, delegated authorities, and internal control standards.
Review financial and operational processes to identify potential irregularities, control deficiencies, or unauthorized activities.
Recommend enhancements to strengthen segregation of duties, approval controls, documentation, and accountability.
Support management in developing and improving internal control frameworks.
Fraud & Special Investigations
Conduct or support special audits and investigations involving suspected fraud, policy violations, irregular transactions, or control breaches.
Analyze records, transactions, and supporting documents to establish facts and identify control weaknesses.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality and documentation throughout investigations.
Recommend preventive and corrective controls based on investigation findings.
Process Improvement & Advisory
Provide advisory support to management on internal controls, risk management, and process improvements.
Review proposed changes to policies, systems, and business processes from an internal control perspective.
Promote a strong culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining appropriate control safeguards.
Team Management
Supervise, coach, and develop internal audit personnel.
Assign audit engagements and monitor the quality and timely completion of audit work.
Review working papers and audit documentation prepared by the audit team.
Establish appropriate audit methodologies, templates, and documentation standards.
Ensure that the internal audit team maintains professional standards and independence in performing its work.
Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Internal Auditing, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or other relevant professional certification is an advantage.
At least 7 years of relevant experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, or internal controls, with supervisory or managerial experience.
Experience in conducting operational, financial, compliance, and process audits.
Strong knowledge of internal control principles, risk assessment, audit methodologies, and business processes.
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
High level of integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and audit/data analysis tools.
Willingness to travel to different business units or operating locations when required.
