Qualifications

About the role

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, testing, and troubleshooting instrumentation and control systems in a manufacturing environment. This role involves routine maintenance of instrumentation devices, installation and commissioning of new systems, support for PLC/SCADA/DCS systems, and coordination with production and engineering teams to ensure optimal equipment performance and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine calibration, testing, and maintenance of instrumentation devices (transmitters, sensors, gauges, control valves, flow meters, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control system faults to minimize production downtime
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on all instrumentation equipment
• Install, configure, and commission new instrumentation and control systems
• Assist in loop checking, testing, and commissioning of new equipment and systems
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrumentation schematics
• Support PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems, including troubleshooting and minor programming modifications
• Maintain accurate calibration records, maintenance logs, and instrumentation documentation
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams regarding instrumentation concerns

About you

• Required: BS in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any related field
• Required: 1–3 years of working experience in instrumentation, automation, or a related field
• Knowledge of instrumentation calibration and maintenance
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and loop diagrams
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Preferred: Licensed Electrical Engineer or Master Electrician
• Preferred: 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems
• Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance
