Job summary

ZACHRY PHILIPPINES, INC. is seeking a senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to lead front-end and detailed engineering for EPC projects in oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors in the Philippines.

You will prepare and review I&C deliverables, mentor engineers, coordinate with clients and vendors, and ensure compliance with ISA/API/IEC standards while controlling costs and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or related courses.
• Certified Instrumentation & Control Engineer (CICE) is an advantage but not required.
• 5–10 years solid Instrumentation and Control Engineering and design experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and other process related industrial plants or facilities.
• Design experience in industrial control systems (hardware and software) such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and APC systems will be an advantage.
• Membership in the Philippine Instrumentation and Control Society (PICS) is desirable.
• Ensures that the company’s Administrative, Human Resources, and Safety rules and regulations are followed at all times.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instrumentation datasheets, calculations, design basis and FEED studies.
• Develop and review I&C deliverables: control philosophy, loop diagrams, I/O lists.
• Calculate sizing: valves, instrumentation, cables, heat dissipation.
• Lead design deliverables and coordinate with project leads, clients and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with quality management systems and project procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and review changes before release.

Job Purpose:

Will provide a technical and project lead role in Instrumentation & Control Engineering Department with due diligence in planning, preparation and supervision of conceptual studies, front-end engineering and design, detailed engineering and design for EPC, mid-cap and workshare projects.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or related courses. Certified Instrumentation & Control Engineer (CICE) is an advantage but not required.
• With at least 5 - 10 years solid Instrumentation and Control Engineering and design experience in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Power, and other process related industrial plants or facilities.
• Design experience in industrial control systems (hardware and software) such as DCS, PLC, SCADA, and APC (advanced process control) systems will be an advantage.
• Construction, testing, and commissioning experience is an added asset but not required.
• Membership in the Philippine Instrumentation and Control Society (PICS) is desirable.
• Ensures that the company’s Administrative, Human Resources, and Safety rules and regulations are followed at all times.

Job Description:

• Perform engineering documentation, specifications, and tasks such as Instrumentation Datasheets, engineering procedures, calculations, Design Basis, FEED studies, Construction Bid packages, Cost Estimates, Vendor/Contractor Document Reviews, RFQ, TBE, HAZOP, P&ID development, and others.
• Preparation, checking and review of I&C deliverables as but not limited to Control Philosophy, System Architecture, Cause & Effect Diagram, Logic Diagram, Alarm & Trip Settings, Index, I/O list, Fire & Gas drawings, Location Plans, Cable Routing Plans, Control Room layouts, Hook-up drawings, Cable Schedule, Junction Box wiring diagrams, Connection drawings, and Schematics, Block Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Instrument Grounding, Bill of Materials, and others.
• Perform, check and review I&C calculations and sizing such as control valve, PSV, PSE, Orifice, FE calculation, Thermowell wake frequency calculation, DP Level Transmitter, Instrument Air consumption, valve stroke speed calculation, analyzer sample lag time calculation, cable sizing, cable trench, and tray fill and loading calculation, Fieldbus segment calculation, IS loop calculation, heat dissipation calculation.
• Knowledge and experience in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), Safety Interlock Logic (SIL) calculations, ESD Control Philosophy, and Fire & Gas Control Philosophy is an advantage.
• Incorporation to design package the local and international standards such as ISA, API, IEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE, BS, 3-A, cGMP, and other industry and client-specific codes and standards.
• Use of Instrumentation and Control Engineering software such as Smartplant Instrumentation (Intools), InstruCalc, Vendor sizing toolkits, and other software/calculation tools. Use of 2D and 3D design software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, PDMS, E3D, and similar software. Knowledgeable in MS Office is a must.
• Lead and take ownership in the preparation of design deliverables with due consideration of each project and client’s requirements.
• Coordination, attend to meetings with other project leads, client, vendor and contractors. Monitor, control and plan assigned project resources such as man-hour, schedule, references and deliverables.
• Ensure company’s Quality Management System and related engineering and documentation procedures are implemented in all phases of project execution.
• Supervise, mentor, provide technical direction to less experienced engineers and designers.
• Capture all changes / modifications in the deliverables that has been intimated by Project, prior to release of deliverable. Ensure appropriate checking & review of all documents / drawings before release at any Revision status. Attend project review meetings.
• Manpower estimation, work planning/forecast and effective utilization of manpower, budget control, progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
• Assist the Department Head in all departmental functions.
