Job summary

Vestas is seeking a skilled Platform Engineer to help advance our cloud-based infrastructure as part of the Compute & Cloud Platforms team. You will design platform architectures, collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, and implement automation and CI/CD practices across Azure and on-prem environments.

The role emphasizes Golang development, monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana/Loki, and strong experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and Pulumi in a DevOps context.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Extensive experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki
• Significant experience with Golang or a similar general purpose programming language
• Knowledge of software engineering principles and best practices, such as version control using Git
• Experience with Agile ways of working and experience with Microsoft Azure in a DevOps team structure
• With background in Linux, open source and Cloud Native Tools
• Coding knowledge for automation of infrastructure (experience with Terraform and Pulumi or similar declarative and idempotent approach)
• Basic understanding of distributed systems and container orchestrators such as Kubernetes

• Design and present platform architecture for projects that you participate in
• Collaborating and aligning with other engineers and stakeholders to identify and address technical challenges and opportunities, and ensure that our platforms lives up to our business needs and goals
• Evaluating and selecting appropriate tools and technologies for use in our infrastructure, including cloud computing platforms, version control systems, automation tools, and monitoring and logging tools integrating selected tools and technologies into our infrastructure and supporting their use by our development and operations teams
• Derive Platform needs from business dialogues
• Contribute to Platform roadmap and contributing to improving capabilities within the area
• Deliver on automatically build commits, run tests, deploy to environments
• Provide feedback regarding development and/or engineering methodologies, standards, and leading practices
• Maintain and spread the DevOps culture and ways of working across Vestas

Competencies:

• Working in our Cloud Capability Center inherently requires a solid technical understanding of Azure cloud. However, a good understanding of on-premises datacenter technologies are also beneficial as many cloud workloads are and will continue to be hybrid in nature and integrate with on-premises solutions.
