Job summary

Assurity Trusted Solutions is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Backup and Automations) to join the L2 team. You will lead Commvault administration, optimize backup operations, and support VMware/Nutanix environments in a large government IT setting. Engage with stakeholders to implement policies and ensure data protection.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in deploying and managing enterprise backup solutions.
• Hands-on Commvault administration and optimization in large IT environments.
• Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware/Nutanix.
• Familiarity with storage technologies and data protection practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholders and senior management.
• ITIL v3 Foundation certified; Commvault and VMware/Nutanix certs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be part of the L2 team for enterprise backup solutions with Commvault leadership.
• Review backup strategies, policies, and recovery procedures to meet RPO/RTO.
• Administer end-to-end backup and recovery operations, including scheduling and monitoring.
• Capacity management and optimization of backup infrastructure and media.
• Support virtualization environments and implement VM-level backups and restores.
• Manage suppliers and contractors for backup infrastructure.
• Identify opportunities to improve backup operations and governance.

We are looking for a Infrastructure Engineer (Backup and Automations) to join us!

You will be working on:

• Part of the L2 team for enterprise backup solutions, with a focus on Commvault administration, operations, and optimisation across a large-scale government IT environment.
• Review and formulate backup strategies, policies, and recovery procedures to improve backup performance and meet system and data recovery requirements, leveraging Commvault's capabilities.
• Manage and administer end-to-end backup and recovery operations, including scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reporting using Commvault.
• Perform capacity management and optimisation of backup infrastructure to support current and future workloads, including storage and media management within Commvault.
• Support virtualisation environments (e.g. VMware, Nutanix) as they relate to backup and recovery operations, including VM-level backup, snapshot management, and restore workflows.
• Management of suppliers and contractors supporting backup infrastructure and related services.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve backup operations, streamline processes, and work cooperatively with various teams to deliver quality and reliable data protection services.
• Review and adopt relevant industry best practices for government IT infrastructure, particularly around data protection and backup governance.
• Ensure that project implementation and operations are aligned to Government technology standards and policies.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in deploying, administering, and managing enterprise backup solutions in complex or large-scale IT environments, with hands-on experience in Commvault as the primary requirement.
• Strong working knowledge of backup and recovery concepts, including deduplication, replication, retention policies, disaster recovery, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience supporting virtualised environments such as VMware and/or Nutanix, particularly in the context of backup and recovery operations.
• Familiarity with storage technologies and how they integrate with backup solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with non-technical stakeholders and senior management.
• Keeps abreast of developments in ICT technologies, backup solutions, and industry best practices.
• ITIL V3 Foundation certified.
• Commvault Certified Professional or equivalent Commvault certification is strongly preferred.
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Nutanix Certified Professional is an advantage.
• Experience with automation or configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform) in the context of backup operations is a plus.
