Job summary

P&A Grant Thornton is seeking a diligent IT Security Officer to assess and strengthen organizational security. You will evaluate existing measures, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend improvements to protect data and infrastructure.

You will assist junior security staff, train peers, and research security technologies to prevent, detect, and respond to threats. Travel may be required as part of the role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess the organization’s infrastructure and data to identify vulnerabilities.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of security measures (firewalls, password policies, IDS).
• Make recommendations to improve security based on assessments and threats.
• Assist and serve as escalation point forJunior IT Security Officer for incidents and root cause analysis.
• Train and assist Junior IT Security Officers.
• Research and implement security technologies (web filtering, endpoint protection, DLP, SIEM).
• Tune security monitoring tools to improve effectiveness.
• Ensure incident reports are submitted timely and accurately.

Job description

• Assess the organization’s infrastructure and data to identify vulnerabilities caused by weaknesses or flaws in software and hardware that could expose the infrastructure to a security breach.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures, such as firewalls, password policies and intrusion-detection systems.
• Make recommendations to improve security based on their assessments and knowledge of current and emerging threats.
• Assists and serves as escalation point for Junior IT Security Officer for security incidents and perform root cause analysis.
• Train and assist Junior IT Security Officers.
• Performs research and implementations of security technologies such as web content filtering systems, endpoint protection systems, data loss prevention systems and security incident event management systems to prevent, detect ad respond appropriately to threats.
• Tunes and calibrates security monitoring tools to improve effectiveness.
• Ensure that the incident reports are submitted in a timely manner and are factual.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Programming, or a related field
• Relevant experience in IT Security/Data protection, Systems Audit or IT Process Review and handling breaches/security incidents
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and fix security risks.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Good team working skills to develop security solutions in collaboration with other information technology professionals.
