Job summary

Baker's Fair & Foodmart Inc. is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to install, maintain, and repair industrial cooling systems in a GMP-conscious facility.

You will monitor temperatures, troubleshoot compressors, condensers, and other components, handle system charging safely, and maintain detailed maintenance logs to support audits. Proficiency with electrical controls, PLCs, and safety procedures is required.

Qualifications

• Vocational diploma or Associate’s degree in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) or Mechanical Technology.
• NC II in RAC or equivalent refrigerant license.
• Proven experience in industrial/commercial refrigeration, preferably in food manufacturing or cold storage.
• Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Ability to use vacuum pumps, manifold gauges, and leak detectors.
• Basic knowledge of electrical controls and PLCs.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and physical stamina.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on industrial freezers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
• Diagnose malfunctions in compressors, condensers, evaporators, and expansion valves.
• Calibrate sensors and thermostats to ensure accurate temperature readings on the floor and storage areas.
• Safely charge refrigerants in line with environmental regulations and safety protocols.
• Provide rapid technical support to minimize downtime and protect stock integrity.
• Maintain detailed logs of repairs, refrigerant usage, and parts inventory.
• Follow Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and all safety standards while working on electrical/pressurized systems.
