Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist at Capital City Sports Academy in Columbus, Ohio to support students with IEP goals through inclusive instruction and behavior supports. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, conduct assessments, facilitate IEP meetings, and communicate with families while applying research-based practices and culturally responsive teaching.

This role requires a current state license, knowledge of state standards, and experience in inclusive/co-teaching

Qualifications

• Current state license
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
• Experience working in a full room inclusion type model or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model
• Growth-focused coaching with frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
• Excellent organization and time management
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks (FBI/BCI)
• Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and assist in intervention strategies
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction
• Conduct functional behavior assessments
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives
• Work to meet goals related to student achievement and culture
• Utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction
• Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices in lessons and interactions
• Serve as advisor for a designated set of students
• Communicate with families regarding student growth
• Plan and support non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips
• Perform other duties as assigned
