Job summary

Edsa Shangri-La Manila seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the hotel’s facilities and engineering operations, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant performance. You will drive budgeting, maintenance, energy programs and capital projects across a five-star city-resort environment.

You will lead a team, collaborate with suppliers and contractors, and uphold the highest standards of safety and guest service while fostering professional development and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Passion for engineering and facilities management.
• Degree in mechanical and electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with large hotel or international brands preferred.
• Excellent written and spoken English; local language is a plus.
• Strong leadership, integrity and professional ethics.
• Self-driven, proactive and capable of challenging the status quo.
• Friendly, trustworthy leader who motivates teams and drives results.
• Excellent budgeting, planning and project management capabilities.
• Ability to train and develop colleagues for efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain standards and ensure facilities comply with regulations.
• Ensure hotel equipment runs smoothly and efficiently at all times.
• Oversee engineering department operations and cost control.
• Manage budgets and expenditures on maintenance and projects.
• Reduce energy consumption while preserving guest comfort and asset life.
• Promote energy management programs and awareness.
• Provide recommendations to increase profitability and performance.
• Establish preventive maintenance to improve reliability and serviceability.
• Train colleagues for efficient operation and proper maintenance.
• Liaise with suppliers/contractors and manage contracts.
• Maintain and enhance fire life safety across the hotel.
