Job summary

Moog Controls Corp. in Baguio City, PH, is seeking a Heat Treat Operator I to perform heat treating of metal components, including normalizing, nitriding, carburizing, hardening and tempering.

The role requires operating furnaces and related equipment, maintaining process records and ensuring safety compliance. The candidate should have at least 3rd year engineering studies and a metallurgy/heat treatment background, with hands-on experience in testing and recording results such as Rockwell

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of heat treat specifications and processes.
• Experience with metallurgy and heat treatment preferred.
• Ability to perform loading/unloading of baskets with forklift or manual equipment.
• Maintain records of times, quantities, and test results for processed materials.

Responsibilities

• Heat treat components to achieve required properties (hardness, ductility, toughness).
• Perform core and case hardening as needed for wear resistance.
• Maintain equipment maintenance and record keeping.
• Perform tests such as Rockwell hardness as required.

Job Title

Heat Treat Operator I

Reporting To

Cell Leader III

Work Schedule

Onsite - Baguio City, PH

General Description

Requires knowledge of heat treat specifications and heat treat processes and the ability to perform these processes. This includes normalizing, stress, relieving, nitriding, carburizing, hardening, tempering and freezing. Will perform all loading and removing of baskets from furnace using forklift or manual equipment. Able to gas quenched or oil quench as required per work instructions. Initiate and maintain all necessary records indicating quantity, times, test results of all materials processed. Maintains history and instruction file for heat treat on every part and fitting through process. Maintain maintenance records of all equipment. Perform tests, such as Rockwell Hardness test, as required on all parts. Will work with steel, beryllium, copper. Use any necessary instruments or controls in regulating the heat-treating equipment or process. Cleans all parts after heat treating by soap cleaning, degreasing or sandblasting as applicable. Rewraps, repacks, after cooling all parts heat treated and returns to source or next operator. Reports on paperwork problems and equipment failures to direct supervision. Demonstrates excellent safety practice and habits to ensure all rules are obeyed. Performs other duties as required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for heat treatment of Moog components (metal or alloy) in the solid state to produce desired properties, i.e. improved mechanical properties (hardness, ductility, toughness, etc.) and/or chemical properties. Heat treatment is not limited to core hardening but also case hardening to ensure resistance of surface to wear, while maintaining toughness and strength of the core.

Education

At least 3rd year related Engineering

With Metallurgy and Heat treatment background

Skills

• 1. Operate the following machines with supervision from Heat treat II/Senior operator. Vacuum furnaces, Hardness testers, Vapor Blast machines, Electric Fork truck loader, Overhead cranes, Industrial freezers, Air ovens, Washer and rinse.
• 2. Bake Out Cycle (preventive Maintenance Run) and determine leak up rate.
• 3. Respond to Alarm Problems.
• 4. Upload recipe program, Load details and batch compilation with supervision from Heat treat II/Senior Heat treat operator.
• 5. Perform Time-Temp Monitoring.
• 6. Record / Convert Hardness tests results.
