Job Summary

Provides strategic leadership in the overall merchandising function across various supermarket merchandise categories, with accountability for driving sales, profitability, inventory productivity, and sustainable business growth. Leads category strategy, merchandise planning, sourcing, supplier management, and team development, ensuring the right products, assortment, pricing, and inventory levels are aligned with customer needs and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Merchandising Strategy & Category Management – Leads the development and execution of merchandising and category strategies, including assortment, product mix, pricing, and promotional direction across various merchandise categories.
• Sales, Profitability & Inventory Management – Drives sales, gross margin, profitability, and inventory productivity through effective inventory optimization and SKU rationalization.
• Market, Sourcing & Supplier Management – Monitors market and consumer trends, identifies business opportunities, leads product sourcing and development, and manages supplier relationships and commercial negotiations to support competitiveness and profitability.
• Business Performance & Analytics – Reviews sales, margin, sell-through, inventory turnover, stock cover, and other key merchandising KPIs; provides data-driven insights and strategic action plans to improve category and overall business performance.
• People Leadership & Capability Development – Provides strategic direction and coaching to Buyers and merchandising teams, and leads talent acquisition, performance management, succession planning, and capability development to build a high-performing merchandising organization.
