Overview
The Division Merchandising Manager is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and management of merchandising strategies for the assigned product category. This role ensures product assortments meet customer demands, drives sales, and enhances the overall shopping experience across multiple store locations and online platforms.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement merchandise strategies aligned with company objectives to achieve sales and margin targets for assigned categories.
- Oversee assortment planning, and product selection to ensure the right mix of merchandise in stores and online.
- Lead, mentor, and guide category buyers in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.
- Analyze sales trends, inventory performance, and market data to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to plan promotions, events, and seasonal campaigns.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage markdown strategies to optimize inventory productivity and minimize aged stocks.
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing, product quality, and reliable delivery.
- Conduct regular market visits and competitive analysis to stay updated on industry trends and customer preferences.
- Prepare and present sales, inventory, and performance reports to management with actionable insights.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, retail standards, and audit requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in buying and merchandising, with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership capacity in the retail industry.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with merchandise and inventory management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong business acumen with a results-driven mindset.
- Knowledge of market trends, consumer behavior, and retail industry best practices.
