Job summary

PM Consulting in Makati is seeking a senior professional to lead Credit Risk Governance and Underwriting Oversight. You will formulate risk policies, underwriting criteria, terms, and exposure limits aligned with the bank's risk appetite.

You will monitor portfolio health, oversee loss mitigation and ensure BSP compliance, preparing board-level risk reports and guiding a team of credit risk officers.

Qualifications

• Education in finance or related field; MBA or risk certs are a plus.
• Minimum 5+ years in credit risk management within banking or regulated finance.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills for risk scoring and portfolio analysis.

Responsibilities

• Program & Policy Development: Formulate and enforce credit risk policies, underwriting criteria, terms, and exposure limits.
• Underwriting Governance: Oversee due diligence, financial statement analysis, and risk scoring before approvals.
• Portfolio Risk Assessment: Evaluate risk levels for retail, microfinance, or corporate borrowers.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Analyze loan performance to detect early warning indicators and imbalances.
• Loss Mitigation & Collections Alignment: Collaborate to manage NPAs and reduce delinquency.
• Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Align with BSP directives; present risk metrics to Executives and Board.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Risk Governance & Underwriting Oversight

• Program & Policy Development: Formulate, refine, and enforce credit risk policies, underwriting criteria, terms and conditions, and exposure limits aligned with the bank's approved risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
• Underwriting Governance: Oversee the credit underwriting process to ensure comprehensive due diligence, financial statement analysis, and risk scoring are performed prior to loan approvals.
• Portfolio Risk Assessment: Evaluate overall risk levels associated with extending credit to retail, microfinance, or corporate borrowers.

Portfolio Health & Regulatory Compliance

• Portfolio Monitoring: Continuously analyze loan portfolio performance to detect early warning indicators of credit concentration, default trends, or portfolio imbalances.
• Loss Mitigation & Collections Alignment: Partner closely with business units, credit operations, and collections departments to manage non-performing assets (NPAs), reduce delinquency rates, and mitigate default losses.
• Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Ensure full alignment with BSP credit risk directives and local banking laws. Prepare and present comprehensive credit risk metrics and board-level risk reports to Executive Management and the Board of Directors.

Departmental Leadership

• Team Leadership: Lead, evaluate, and mentor credit risk officers, managing operational workflows, training programs, and performance appraisals.
• Strategic Input: Recommend departmental plans, operational budgets, and risk mitigation initiatives aligned with overall bank growth targets.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Education: Graduate of Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field. A Master’s Degree (MBA/MS) or formal risk management/finance certifications are highly desirable.
• Tenure: Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated professional experience in credit risk management within a bank, lending institution, or regulated financial entity.

Technical & Functional Competencies

• Credit Analysis: Deep expertise in credit underwriting, quantitative financial analysis, debt capacity modeling, and borrower evaluation.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of BSP rules and regulations governing credit risk management, loan loss provisioning, and asset classification.
• Portfolio Management: Proven ability to manage credit metrics, mitigate NPLs/delinquency, and present risk insights to executive leadership.
