Job summary

Western Digital in Laguna, Philippines seeks a Hardware Development Engineer to support spacing, tribology, and metrology efforts for HDD designs. You will run tests, analyze results, and generate reports while guiding technicians and collaborating with global teams.

The role requires a Master’s or Bachelor’s with several years in tribology and metrology, programming in Python, and proficiency with lab instruments. Onsite work in Binan City is expected.

Qualifications

Master’s or Bachelor’s in a physical science with tribology/metrology experience.
Industry exposure in Semiconductor/electronics manufacturing preferred.
Strong analytical, data reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute tests to evaluate spacing, tribology, and metrology for HDD designs.
Analyze data and generate reports; lead technicians and coordinate with teams.
Develop automation scripts to streamline data processing and reporting.
Collaborate with global counterparts on spacing characterization initiatives.
Identify and resolve system-related challenges and limitations.
Oversee daily tester operations and ensure tool readiness.
