Job summary

GHD is seeking an Earthing/Grounding Design Engineer to support our Power Group. You will design and analyze grounding and earthing systems for substations, renewable energy, and power infrastructure projects to ensure safety and reliability.

You will perform calculations, studies, and prepare reports using AutoCAD, ETAP, and other tools; review vendor drawings; collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams; and mentor junior staff while contributing to proposals and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Electrical Engineer with 3+ years in HV/MV substations or renewables.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering documentation.
• Experience reviewing vendor drawings and technical submissions.
• Strong collaboration and communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience in grounding/earthing and lightning protection design.
• Familiarity with ETAP or CDEGS is highly desirable.
• Experience across substations, transmission, distribution, renewables, and BESS.

Responsibilities

• Deliver earthing, grounding, and lightning protection designs for substations and renewables.
• Perform grounding studies, calculations, data analysis, and design development.
• Prepare technical reports and project documentation.
• Support site investigations, field testing, and review vendor drawings.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Assist with project coordination, proposals, and mentoring junior team members.
