Study.com is seeking a Course Editor to remotely review and edit Visual Communications courses. The role involves updating course structure, aligning learning outcomes with current standards, and refining assessments.

The contractor will work online, on an hourly basis, with flexible hours and responsive support from Study.com’s team. Prior college teaching and AI tool fluency are preferred.

• Master's degree or higher in Applied Philosophy/Ethics and ability to teach introductory ethics.

Course Editors play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our credit-recommended college courses. This project aims to enhance and update college-level courses to ensure they meet current academic standards and industry requirements. This is an online, remote contract role. All work is paid per hour.

Project Description

You will review and edit existing college‑level Visual Communications course structure and materials. This is expected to include tasks such as (but not limited to):

• Evaluating and adjusting recommended updates to existing course structure
• Reviewing course learning outcomes and competencies for accuracy and alignment with current health informatics standards
• Editing skill-oriented course sections and ensuring proper organization of topics such as electronic health records, health data management, and healthcare IT systems
• Reviewing and refining response assignment prompts and rubrics
• Evaluating existing multiple choice questions for quality and accuracy

Required Skills:

• Master's degree or higher in Applied Philosophy/Ethics, with the ability to teach ethical reasoning at an introductory, non-technical college level
• Hands-on fluency with generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot)
• Familiarity with the ethical issues and regulation surrounding generative AI
• Experience teaching courses in a college or university setting
• Experience creating, updating, or revising courses at the college or university level

Education Level Required - including major if needed

Master's degree or higher in graphic design, visual communication design, communication studies, rhetoric, media studies, or journalism; OR

Bachelor's degree in one of these plus a master's in a closely related field; OR

Bachelor's degree in design plus 3+ years of professional design practice

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Strong time management skills to meet due dates
• Receptiveness to feedback and willingness to revise submitted work as needed
• Ability to collaborate with curriculum designers to create high-quality course deliverables

Nice to Have

• Experience teaching a survey-style visual communication course that pairs design principles with visual analysis
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, color contrast, alt text) and copyright, fair use, and AI-generated imagery issues in visual media
