This role is responsible for managing GIS teams, driving operational excellence, overseeing project delivery, and developing scalable GIS processes that support business growth.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of GIS Team Leads, GIS Analysts, and GIS Specialists.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and accountable team culture.
Conduct performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and career development planning.
Support recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning.
Establish team objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations.
Promote continuous learning and the adoption of industry best practices.
Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of multiple GIS projects.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in accordance with quality standards.
Manage resource allocation, team capacity, and project priorities.
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Develop and improve operational workflows to increase efficiency and scalability.
Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resource utilization.
Serve as the primary escalation point for GIS-related operational and project matters.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into effective GIS solutions.
Provide regular project updates, presentations, and recommendations to management and clients.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
Define and implement GIS standards, best practices, and technical governance.
Provide strategic direction on GIS technologies, methodologies, and system architecture.
Oversee the use of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, and other GIS platforms.
Ensure effective management of geospatial databases, spatial analysis, and mapping standards.
Drive the adoption of automation, scripting, and modern GIS technologies to improve operational efficiency.
Evaluate emerging GIS technologies and recommend solutions that enhance business capabilities.
Establish quality assurance processes for GIS data and deliverables.
Ensure compliance with internal standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
Oversee data governance, documentation, version control, and information security.
Review operational metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
Define and monitor key performance indicators for the GIS department.
Prepare operational, resource, and project performance reports for senior management.
Analyze trends, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions.
Support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and departmental growth initiatives.
Recommend process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and client satisfaction.
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Geodetic Engineering, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive GIS experience in solution design, implementation, and project delivery.
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing or leading GIS teams.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple GIS projects and cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, QGIS, or equivalent GIS platforms.
Strong understanding of spatial data management, geospatial analysis, cartography, and GIS best practices.
Experience with project planning, resource management, and operational leadership.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and people-management skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Experience with Python scripting for GIS automation and workflow optimization.
Familiarity with ETL tools such as FME.
Experience with Esri Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications.
Knowledge of enterprise geodatabases, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL Server, or similar database technologies.
Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or DevOps environments.
Experience supporting international clients and distributed teams.
GIS, PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or other relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
