Job summary

UNICEF Philippines is seeking a GIS Assistant to support the CDRA for the Climate Resilient WASH in Health Care Facility project in Samar Province. The role focuses on building GIS data inventories, geodatabases, and map production to enable hazard, exposure and risk analyses.

The incumbent will coordinate with CDRA Specialists and LGUs; prepare field data collection tools; ensure data quality; and deliver publication-ready maps and datasets for handover in 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geomatics, Geodetic Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban and Regional Planning, Information Technology or related field and with substantial GIS coursework or practice.
• At least two years of GIS data management, spatial analysis, digitization and cartographic production experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare GIS data inventory, acquisition plan, file structure, geodatabase schema and metadata records.
• Review municipal shapefiles, maps and reports; identify data gaps or unusable data.
• Define coordinate reference system, map scales, and layout standards with CDRA Specialist.
• Support target facility mapping, data collection forms and field data templates.
• Compile and preprocess climate/hazard layers; perform spatial overlays and generate facility-level summaries.
• Prepare map layouts and data extracts for two municipal risk assessment reports.
• Revise maps/tables based on field verification and LGU input.
• Develop exposure database groups for CDRA and link data to attributes.
