Job Purpose
The Geometric Control Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining the project's geometric control network, ensuring the accurate positioning, alignment, and dimensional integrity of all construction works. The role involves coordinating survey activities, monitoring construction tolerances, validating as-built measurements, and providing technical support to construction teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
Survey and Geometric Control
- Establish and maintain project control points, benchmarks, and survey networks.
- Verify horizontal and vertical control systems used throughout the project.
- Review and validate survey data to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Supervise surveyors and survey technicians during field operations.
- Conduct regular checks of survey instruments and equipment calibration.
Construction Layout and Setting Out
- Prepare setting-out data for construction activities.
- Verify the alignment, levels, dimensions, and coordinates of structures.
- Ensure accurate positioning of foundations, columns, walls, roads, utilities, and other infrastructure.
- Resolve geometric discrepancies encountered during construction.
Quality Control and Assurance
- Monitor construction tolerances and dimensional accuracy.
- Perform geometric inspections and verification surveys.
- Review contractor and subcontractor survey submissions.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and relevant standards.
As-Built Documentation
- Coordinate and verify as-built surveys.
- Prepare and maintain geometric control records and reports.
- Update project databases with survey and dimensional control information.
- Support project closeout documentation requirements.
Coordination and Technical Support
- Liaise with design engineers, construction managers, consultants, and survey teams.
- Participate in site inspections and technical meetings.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions when deviations are identified.
- Assist in resolving design and construction interface issues.
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics Engineering or equivalent
- A license is an advantage
Training
- Document analysis and strategic planning
- Planning and scheduling related seminars/workshops
- Knowledge of ECCS/Candy Software
Skills
- Proficiency in Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Digital Level, and Laser Scanning technologies.
- Knowledge of surveying software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Geo Office, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of coordinate systems, geodesy, and construction surveying principles.
- Knowledge of construction tolerances and quality standards.
Experience
- At least one (1) year experience as relevant experience
Working conditions
Physical requirements
- Should be flexible with the schedule and be able to pick up instructions easily and responsibly.
- Willing to render overtime when needed.
