Qualifications

Responsibilities

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Geologist to join our Earth & Environment Team

Founded in 2000, WSP Manila Inc. is one of WSP's Global Capabilities Centre (GCC) and an integrated extension of WSP teams worldwide by providing them with services that help deliver excellent operational performance.

We provide technical expertise at scale and experienced professionals, including those with specialized skills. We also fill capability gaps or add capacity to deliver projects on time and pilot new skills or services.

Our Philippine team, of 600+ professionals, pioneers solutions and delivers innovative projects across sectors: Transport & Infrastructure, Property & Buildings, Earth & Environment and Mining & Energy.

Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)

• Conduct all work in a safe manner and comply with all role-specific HSE obligations.
• Comply with WSP Quality System and Code of Ethics, contribute on the identification and management of ethical issues associated with area of work or practice area.
• Use your database management, geotechnical and geological skills to contribute to geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects across the sectors in which we operate.
• Develop your geotechnical and geological skills to contribute to geotechnical and multidisciplinary projects across the sectors in which we operate.
• Support development of project geotechnical databases.
• Collate and quality check field data collected by project teams and incorporate into central project databases.
• Undertake quality control and quality assurance processes to maintain project databases.
• Assist project teams with laboratory test scheduling and test requests.
• Review and quality check laboratory data and incorporate in project databases.
• Provide input for geotechnical factual reports including analysis of laboratory testing result to support parameter selection for interpretive reporting.
• Support development of engineering geological ground models.
• Promote a safe working culture by identifying and eliminating safety hazards.
• Deliver best client outcomes/options which have save the client costs/time.
• Monitor the technical quality of work performed by the team and promote a culture of technical excellence within the team.
• Successfully develop and maintain strong relationships and networks with Lead County staff to promote use of the GCC Geotechnical and Geological capabilities and improve business and client outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in:
• Geology
• Engineering
• Engineering Geology
• Data Science
• Spatial Science
• Information Science; or Similar fields.
• Completion of all internal and external HSE training

Experience, skills and organisational knowledge

• Typically, 2+ years’ experience.
• A keen interest in geotechnical engineering and geology.
• A track record in collecting and managing field data for small to large size geotechnical projects.
• Experience geotechnical/environmental data analysis, database development and spatial information management would be beneficial.
• Experience with Data Warehousing would be beneficial.
• Understanding of core data science, machine learning and statistical concepts and methods would be beneficial.
• Knowledge and Experience with analytical and statistical tools would be beneficial.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relational/structured data manipulation and scientific statistical analysis would be beneficial.
• Competent in monitoring and managing the scope (including variations) of multiple projects of varying complexity and size and guiding the work of others.
• Proven ability in building the technical capability of others and transferring technical expertise within the organisation.
• Experience in supervising graduates and managing professionals, seniors, and associates in hybrid environments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of organisational approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
