The role focuses on maintaining accurate accounting records, closing monthly and yearly books, costing products, and preparing financial statements and schedules in line with applicable standards and policies. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Accountancy, CPA preferred, with experience in general ledger, financial reporting, costing, and inventory accounting, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field; CPA preferred.
• Experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, costing, and inventory accounting.
• Working knowledge of applicable financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and other adjustments.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Review entries from accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions.
• Maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts.
• Complete monthly and annual closing within agreed deadlines.
• Prepare and maintain product cost calculations, including materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze cost variances, production losses, wastage, and product margins.
• Reconcile inventory records with the general ledger and investigate differences.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Prepare management reports covering expenses, inventory, costs, and profitability.

About the role

The General Ledger and Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, managing month-end and year-end closing, performing product costing and inventory accounting, and preparing the company's financial statements and supporting schedules. The role ensures that financial information is complete, timely, and consistent with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities
