EY GDS – Assurance FAAS – Manager – Enhanced corporate accounting and reporting (ECRA) – Technical Accounting
Key Responsibilities
- Manage quality of service delivery.
- Ensure quality in delivering client service by directing daily progress of fieldwork, informing supervisors of engagement status.
- Follow through on client requests in a timely fashion and manage expectations regarding the timing of deliverables and reports.
- Explain the client’s critical success factors to the engagement team.
- Work directly with onshore engagement team on a daily basis to deliver work to onshore clients.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of accounting concepts; stay informed of professional standards and firm policies and effectively apply this knowledge to moderately difficult and/or complex client situations.
- Identify engagement and client service issues; research and benchmark client data to industry data.
- Apply independent and objective professional judgment in applying accounting standards to meet engagement expectations, including regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with onshore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issues and provide research assistance on U.S. GAAP and IFRS pronouncements.
- Demonstrate knowledge on special accounting matters, new accounting pronouncements, technology‑oriented solutions driven by accounting expertise.
- Customize presentations to the acquisition’s specific attributes.
- Work on a variety of corporate finance transactions in all stages, from initial client pitches to transaction closing.
- Receive direction from the Manager, Senior Manager and Partner.
- Maintain a relationship approach with senior stakeholders, interpreting feedback on key business developments/risks and understanding the client’s marketplace in order to address their needs, while delivering one voice to the client in all communications and correspondence.
- Keep abreast of pertinent industry, regulatory and business practices, driving oversight of regulatory adherence.
- Initiate ongoing improvements by exploring, identifying, and implementing reporting, analysis, and process solutions.
- Coordinate activities between small teams on projects to deliver tasks, including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members.
- Undertake practice development activities including contributing to thought leadership, running industry events, delivering training, or managing team communications.
- Contribute to business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
- Contribute to the growth of the practice by providing input to EY Point of Views, development of solutions, engagement tools and enablers.
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Good understanding of IFRS/US/UK GAAP and International auditing standards.
- Technical accounting advisory on complex topics (e.g., business combinations, consolidation, shared‑based payments, financial instruments including debt/equity).
- Coordinating with on‑shore technical accounting teams to understand their accounting issues and provide research assistance on an as‑needed basis on U.S. GAAP and IFRS pronouncements.
- Primary responsibility for project management in connection with project role and responsibilities, ensuring relevant information flow and appropriate coordination between cross‑functional team members within the finance function.
- Work on a variety of accounting matters through all stages, from initial client pitches to audit closing.
- Strong written and verbal communication, presentation and technical writing skills.
- Ability and comfort level in researching client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices and new technologies.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel on short notice, as necessary.
- Working experience in the following services/solutions: accounting and regulatory support for accounting change and special matters; white paper writing; comprehensive technical accounting guidance addressing complex issues and transactions (e.g., business combination, consolidation, stock‑based compensation, revenue, leases); research and analysis on accounting issues, documenting findings and proposing solutions; preparation of financial statements including accounting policies and governance; accounting processes; audit support and governance.
Professional Experience
- Experience of working in an advisory role.
- Manage a team of 10+ people.
- Advanced skills and experience with technical accounting matters, whitepapers on significant issues such as consolidation, IFRS 15, 16, etc.
- Hands‑on consulting experience at a Big 4 or top‑tier consulting firm.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 6‑10 years (post qualification) in Assurance including at least 3+ years of Financial Accounting and Advisory experience.
