Job summary

Modular Engineers Pty Ltd is seeking a Founding AI Software Engineer to design and build an internal AI platform for engineering workflows. You will review reports, drawings, and documentation, and build knowledge bases from historical projects.

You will develop RAG workflows, LLm applications, and integrate with business tools like Microsoft 365, Monday.com, and Dropbox. You will create APIs, databases, and production-ready web applications.

Qualifications

• Strong Python development experience.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs and AI applications.
• Web application development experience.
• API development and third-party integrations.
• SQL and database experience.
• Strong problem-solving and system design skills.
• Ability to independently design, build, test, and maintain production-ready applications.
• Approximately 3-5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Comfortable taking ownership of technical decisions and shaping an internal AI platform from its early stages.
• Must be available to work full-time during Australian business hours.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Modular Engineers' internal AI platform.
• Develop AI systems that can review engineering reports, drawings, and project documentation.
• Build searchable knowledge bases from historical projects.
• Develop and maintain RAG-based workflows and LLM applications.
• Integrate AI tools with platforms such as Microsoft 365, Monday.com, Dropbox, and other business systems.
• Build APIs, backend services, databases, and supporting web applications.
• Develop AI-driven QA/QC tools for engineering workflows.
• Improve document processing, automation, and information retrieval across the business.
• Work closely with our engineering and operations teams to translate real business processes into reliable AI solutions.
• Maintain, test, troubleshoot, and continuously improve the platform as it grows.
