Job summary

Pareto AI is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to partner with frontier labs and own RL environments end to end. You will build image layers, the MCP tool servers, graders, and production pipelines, while collaborating with delivery, product, engineering, and ML teams to shape the product roadmap.

You will ship robust environments, investigate production runs, and continuously improve the platform with automated builds, release notes, and CI gates.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS, Math, Statistics, or related field.
• Strong Python or TypeScript programming; knowledge of functional languages is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Ability to review outputs from coding agents with good judgment.
• Excellent communication and analytical troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations (business trips to California) and US travel rights.

Responsibilities

• Leverage innovative thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and engineering expertise to address critical AI challenges for clients
• Build and ship the environments themselves: layered container images, the MCP tool servers agents act through, task setup, and deterministic or agent-judge graders — released reproducibly into the customer's platform
• Own what you ship in production. Investigate failed runs, take the lead when a delivery pipeline degrades, stabilize first and root‑cause second, write the runbook, and turn each incident into fixes that stop it recurring
• Invest in the platform, not just the delivery — automated image builds and release notes, spec‑first design, CI gates and review harnesses, so the next environment costs a fraction of the last
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams across delivery, product, engineering, and ML to influence product roadmap and achieve important business objectives

Responsibilities

Working as a Forward Deployed Software Engineer at Pareto means partnering with frontier labs and owning the RL environments they train on end to end — scoping with the requester, building the image and the tools inside it, writing the graders that score it, shipping it, and keeping it healthy in production. Your key duties will include:

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related analytical discipline
• Strength in programming languages such as Python, Typescript, or functional languages
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS
• Fluent, high‑leverage use of coding agents, and the judgment to review what they produce
• Outstanding communication abilities and analytical troubleshooting skills
• Flexibility to visit customer locations when required (Business trips to California)
